Tiffany Hayes scored a career-high 27 points, Angel McCoughtry added 21 and Erika DeSouza had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Atlanta Dream to a 85-75 victory over Tulsa on Thursday night.
The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Shock and put a dent in Tulsa's playoff hopes. The Shock fell to 10-18 and remains two games behind Los Angeles for the final playoff spot in the West with six games to play, one of those against the Sparks.
The Dream trio of Hayes McCoughtry and DeSouza combined to go 25-of-37 from the field for the East Conference leaders. Atlanta (17-9) dominated in the paint with 48 points. Sancho Lyttle also hit double figures with 10 points.
Odyssey Sims scored 22 for Tulsa, and Glory Johnson and Skylar Diggins each had 14 points. The Shock (10-18) also fared well in the low post with 44 points, but shot just 37 percent for the game.
Meanwhile, the Dream shot 55 percent for the game, including 50 percent from the 3-point line. Atlanta went on a 9-0 run in the fourth quarter to take a 74-67 lead and kept it the remainder of the game.
Tiffany Jackson-Jones went 2-for-2 from the field, scoring four points for Tulsa, in her 2014 season debut.
A season-high crowd of 6,841 came to the BOK Center Thursday night, thanks in no small part to the presence of Atlanta’s Shoni Schimmel, who is Native American.
"It is great to come out here especially in Tulsa and a lot of Native Americans come out and support; it makes me happy," Schimmel said.
