A motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital after hitting the back of a Tulsa police car.
It happened Thursday night at the intersection of West Edison Street and Union Avenue.
Tulsa Police Sergeant Steve Stoltz said an officer started to turn east onto West Edison Street when a motorcycle rider crashed into the back of the car.
The impact threw the rider off the motorcycle.
A witness said she guessed the motorcycle rider was going about 80 miles an hour when the bike struck the car.
Stoltz said the officer called for an ambulance which took rider to the hospital. He said he is expected to survive, but had severe injuries to his leg.
Stoltz said it’s unknown if alcohol was involved or if the man was wearing a helmet.
The officer was not injured and the crash is under investigation.
