2 Airlifted From Pawnee County Wreck; 5 Others Also Hospitalized

A two-vehicle collision in Pawnee County on Friday night sent several people to area hospitals, two of whom were transported by helicopter.

According to a report released on Saturday, Jena Green, 30, of Pawnee, was northbound on Oklahoma 99 near Jennings when she crossed the center line and departed the road to the left. Patricia Ford, 46, of Hallett, was southbound and took evasive action to the right. Green’s truck hit Ford’s truck on the passenger side, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened about 7:30 p.m. and both drivers were pinned about 30 minutes before being extricated by firefighters, the report says.

Green was taken to a hospital in serious condition. She also had two passengers, both juveniles. A 9-year-old boy was taken to a Tulsa hospital by ambulance and treated and released. An 18-month-old boy was airlifted to Tulsa in critical condition.

Ford was transported in serious condition to a Tulsa hospital, the report says. Her husband, Kevin Ford, 52, was taken by medical helicopter to Tulsa. OHP said Kevin Ford was transported in critical condition.

Patricia Ford’s other two passengers – one a 3-year-old boy and the other a 6-year-old girl – were taken with unknown injuries by private vehicle to a Cushing hospital, the report says.

Green and both children in her truck were properly restrained, OHP said. Patricia Ford's juvenile passengers were wearing seat belts, but neither she nor her husband were, according to the report.

The investigating trooper wrote the condition of both drivers was apparently normal, and the cause of the collision was due to Green’s inattention and distraction inside her vehicle.

Aside from OHP, 10 other agencies responded to assist in the crash.
