Tulsa Public School’s Lee Elementary broke ground Friday morning on its new Discover Lee Outdoor Classroom.

When the school celebrated its 95th anniversary in April, the Lee Foundation announced it would be raising $180,000 to build outdoor classroom at the school located at 1920 South Cincinnati.

Once construction is complete, the outdoor classroom will include a children’s forest, a prairie classroom and a science education classroom. School officials say teachers will be able to incorporate the unique outdoor space into their curriculum.

They say work on the project is expected to take about 90 days.
