News On 6 was present for a big moment at a Tulsa school today.
The Little Lighthouse teaches children who have special needs.
And on Wednesday, the school broke ground on a big expansion project.
It came after the center was able to raise $1.4 million in a challenge grant.
They needed to raise the money by October, but thanks to the Tulsa community, they raised all the money by May.
Having a bigger building means more children will have access to the tuition-free Christian developmental school.
Right now, 150 children are on a 2-year-long list to enroll.
That means valuable days of early intervention are being lost.
The expansion doubles how many children they can serve by adding eight new classrooms.
"We have to give a big thank you ... above and beyond," LL Executive Director Jean Winfrey said.
Anyone interested in viewing the construction progress can schedule a tour through the school.
