Tulsa police say two people were found in an SUV parked in the lot of the Tonight Inn and Suites near Memorial and Admiral. The man behind the wheel had been shot to death.

Man Found Shot To Death Behind Wheel Of SUV In East Tulsa

A man is dead and a woman wounded Saturday afternoon in East Tulsa. Police say the two people were found in an SUV in the parking lot of the Tonight Inn and Suites near Memorial and Admiral.

A woman flagged down a patrol officer at 8833 East Admiral at about 2:20 p.m. saying there had been a shooting, according to Homicide Sgt. Dave Walker. The officer found two people with several gunshot wounds inside a white GMC Envoy.

Police say the man in the driver's seat -- 57-year-old Richard Parker -- was dead. The woman in the passenger seat is alive but injured. She was taken to the hospital in fair condition.

Authorities believe one shooter fired multiple times, but they have found no shell casings at yet.

"This address is known for prostitution, drug dealing in this courtyard," Walker said. "Somebody in these rooms had to have heard, seen something."

The investigation is in its early stages, police say. They are interviewing potential witnesses at the scene and made several arrests on unrelated warrants in the process.

"History tells us people in these rooms known more than they're saying," Walker said.

Police say all they know about the suspect at this time is that the suspect vehicle is gold. There is one surveillance camera at the motel. Police are reviewing the footage.

The crew from the television show "The First 48" is also at the scene.
