Firefighters all over the state came together in Claremore on Friday at a memorial service for Tulsa Fire Department Capt. Tim Marcotte.
The walking procession included firefighters in dress uniforms as they paid respects to the 17-year veteran who served in Tulsa for eight years.
Marcotte, 45, died suddenly on July 7. Funeral services were at the First Baptist Church of Claremore at 10 a.m. and will be buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, which is within walking distance.
Marcotte was an Inola High School graduate and became a firefighter in 1996. He was decorated, winning many awards and recognition for his performance in uniform and service to the city.
“Tim was a kind man with a heart of gold,” his obituary said. “He was always willing to help people no matter the circumstance. Both friends and family respected and looked up to him. Tim was a ‘fill-in’ father figure for his sons' friends who didn't have a dad. He was a parent that other parents trusted. A hero to many, Tim saved many lives including a child who almost drowned at the Claremore Rec center pool.”
He is survived by his wife, Kim, and their three sons, Keenin, Colton and Corbin and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers or other condolences, his family requests donations in Marcotte's name to the Tulsa Fire Fighters Credit Union.
