Tulsa Water Line Break Closes North Harvard, Leaves 70 Customers Without Water

City of Tulsa workers are repairing a 30-inch water line which broke early Tuesday. The break flooded North Harvard near Pine and cut off service to about 70 water customers, according to city workers.

Workers said the water line ruptured at about 1 a.m. closing off Harvard between Pine and Easton.

Rick Caruthers, Water Distribution Manager for the City of Tulsa, tells News On 6 the repair crew shut down several connecting lines to stop the flow of water so it could begin to fix the broken pipe.

He believes the heat was a contributing factor, but won't know for sure until the crew can began those repairs.  

He didn't know how long it will take workers to turn the water back on, but Caruthers hopes service will be restored by Tuesday afternoon. 

Until repairs are completed, Caruthers says a water truck will be brought to the neighborhood for residents to get fresh water.

Water department workers are also repairing a broken water line at 23rd and 129th East Avenue.  Osage SkyNews 6 HD flew over the intersection as water poured out of a storm drain and into the street.  No word on the size of the broken line.
