Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a crash that left a Miami truck driver dead. The single-vehicle wreck took place just before 5 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 40 in Caddo County.
Troopers say James Riley England Jr., 68, was behind the wheel of a 2012 Freightliner. England was eastbound on Interstate 40 near State Highway 58 when the truck left the roadway and went down an embankment for an unknown reason.
A collision report states the truck traveled almost 900 feet on the grass before hitting a ditch. The semi stopped but its load continued forward, sheering off the top portion of the cab.
Troopers say the Hydro Fire Department freed England's body from the cab of the truck.
The OHP says the cause of the collision is unknown. Troopers are waiting for a report on England's condition before the wreck.
