Time is winding down for North Intermediate High School in Broken Arrow as there are eight days left in the school year. On Tuesday, the district officially said farewell to the nearly century old school.

This school year's about over, but the students at Broken Arrow North Intermediate High School may be thinking this year will just never end.

On the other hand, there are generations of former Broken Arrow students who have fonder memories of the school at the end of East College Street. In fact, there's been a school there for almost 100 years.

Former Superintendent Dr. Clarence Oliver is also a former principal there.

"This site is one of the most historic sites in Tulsa County. This was the location of the first public institution of our education in what is now Tulsa County," Oliver said.

Lots of former students and faculty came by to reminisce. The current principal, Kenneth Kinzer, said there are lots to remember.

They've saved old yearbooks and newspaper clippings of significant events, like when the tornado took the top off one of the buildings back in the 80s.

There are boxes to pack all of it up in when school ends next week.

Memories grow sweeter with time, they say, so one day, perhaps when these kids are older, they'll brag about their days at North Intermediate High

Next school year, all 10th, 11th and 12 graders will go to Broken Arrow High School. South Intermediate will become the new freshman academy.
