The Oral Roberts baseball team's season came to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Eagles fell 3-1 to Lamar in the season finale at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

ORU closed its season with a 30-26 overall mark, and finished ninth in the Southland Conference standings with a 15-15 record. The Cardinals of Lamar clinched a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament with an eighth place finish with a 16-14 SLC record and 31-23 overall.

In his final game as a Golden Eagle, Brandon Healy drove in the lone run for the Golden Eagles with an RBI bunt single that scored that scored Audie Afenir to put ORU up 1-0 after two innings. Afenir had previously reached on a double, ORU's only extra-base hit of the game.

Guillermo Trujillo (3-4) took the loss for ORU in seven innings of work, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out seven batters. Jordan Romano allowed a run in an inning and a third.

Tyler West, Sam Bumpers and Jacoby Middleton each had two hits to lead the Cardinals, with West recording and triple. Hunter Perry (3-0) entered with the game tied at one in third inning and pitched the final seven innings for the win, keeping the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard.

The Cardinals took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh as Middleton led off the inning with a double to right center and scored when Justin Eckols grounded into a double play. Lamar extended their lead to 3-1 in top half of the ninth on a wild pitch that allowed Mason Salazar to score from third.

It was ORU baseball's 16th 30 win season in the past 17 years, highlighted by a season sweep over nationally ranked Oklahoma, a home win over No. 9 Oklahoma State and a road sweep of Stephen F. Austin in league play.
