Tulsa Police have identified a man injured in a gun battle Saturday night in North Tulsa. Adrian Campbell is said to be stable after emergency surgery for gunshot wounds.

Campbell was the driver of a car that was involved in a shoot out at about 7:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Boston, authorities say. The police investigation shows that a passenger in the car - who was armed with an assault rifle - exchanged fire with other suspects who were in a residence.

Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker says Campbell, 29, "will have an opportunity to explain the events when he recovers."

Police got a search warrant for the residence involved, "and recovered evidence that the occupants had fired their own assault rifle from the house into the street," a news release states.

When police arrived Saturday evening, there was no one in the house.

"The motive for this shooting is unknown," Walker said. "It is not known if Campbell knew the occupants of 1135 North Boston Place."

Police on scene said the 29-year-old man was hit several times before he wrecked the car he was driving down Boston Place. His passenger fled the scene carrying a rifle, according to Sergeant Steve Stoltz.

A search of court records shows that Campbell, also known as "Lil Coe," is currently charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony.

He has served time in an Oklahoma prison for drug trafficking as well.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-2677.
