A Pawnee County couple is shaken up after discovering their wheelchair-accessible van was stolen from a hospital parking lot in Tulsa on Thursday, their granddaughter says.
The 75-year-old woman had been released from the hospital to return home, and when her husband went outside to get her wheelchair out of the van, he discovered the vehicle had been stolen.
Officials said surveillance images show the van was stolen from Hillcrest Medical Center, near 11st Street and Utica Avenue, at 9:25 a.m.
According to Tulsa police, security guards at the hospital said video shows a blue Tahoe entering the parking garage, then a white male wearing a hoodie got out of the Tahoe. The man had to leave the camera's view to get into the van, but immediately after, the van left the garage and the Tahoe followed.
Surveillance images from Hillcrest were provided, but severe pixelation in the video doesn't allow for a clear view of the thief's face or the body of the van as it pulls out of the garage.
The van is described as a white 1996 GMC full-size van with Oklahoma tag 764KUC.
