A Tulsa woman is desperately searching for her three-year-old dog after, she believes, someone stole him from her yard. It's not just any dog, Kai is a service dog, and his owner needs him to get through the day.

Aspen Rask suffers from epilepsy. Three years ago, she was lucky enough to get a service dog, Kai, to help with her medical condition.

On Tuesday, Rask found her back gate wide open and Kai gone.

"He's not just a service dog he's my pet and companion and takes care of me," Rask said.

She said she has trouble getting through the day without Kai.

"Kai protects me from falling and from a seizure. When I'm out, he alerts people to get me help right away," she said.

Tuesday night, after letting him out for just a few minutes, she checked her backyard and the fence was wide open and Kai nowhere to be found.

"My seizures have been out of control, and him not being home isn't making it any easier," said Rask.

He didn't have his vest on because at night, when work is over, Rask said the vest comes off.

"Without his backpacks on he's a great big baby. He thinks he's a lap dog and will push my boyfriend out of the way just so he can sit on my lap," Rask said.

She said the gentle giant, weighing in at more than 100 pounds, does have a microchip and blue collar on, but she's worried someone might still be afraid of him.

"He needs this vest. He's not a bad pit bull, he's not gonna hurt anybody," said Rask.

Rask did file a police report, but for now her world stands still, because with her epilepsy, she can't be left alone.

"I'm not allowed to shower by myself. I'm not allowed to drive. That's why I have Kai," she said. "He's got to come home. I'm a nervous wreck."

Rask also has a big Walk for Epilepsy this weekend that Kai was going to be a part of, so she's hoping she can get him home before then.

If anyone has any information you can call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
