A Tulsa couple at the center of a legal fight over same-sex marriage in Oklahoma says they will be filing more documents in federal court Monday.

Mary Bishop and Sharon Baldwin say they plan to file a brief with signatures of support and hold a news conference Monday afternoon.

The couple says the support document has been signed by family and children's advocacy groups as well as clergy members who support gay marriage in Oklahoma.

The initial lawsuit was filed in 2004 after Oklahoma voters passed a constitutional amendment that banned same-sex marriage in the state. The couple says they should have the right to marry.

In January 2014, a U.S. district judge ruled Oklahoma's law against gay marriage was unconstitutional.

Monday's filing is in response to a brief filed by the Alliance Defending Freedom in February.

The Alliance Defending Freedom says children are better off in a home with a mother and a father. The group also said Baldwin and Bishop had no fundamental right to marry.

Mary Bishop and Sharon Baldwin issued the following statement to News On 6:

"We think it is important for Oklahomans to know that many people from many walks of life support the right of all people to marry the person they love."

Monday's filing will be with the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver.

Bishop and Baldwin's news conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Equality Center at 621 East 4th Street.
