Monday Morning Update

Welcome back to spring-time weather.  Our conditions will continue to improve today and for most of Tuesday before another fast moving system rolls across the central plains and brings another surface front into the state.    

The weekend system provided ample rainfall across a large portion of the state this weekend.  As the system exited the area yesterday, some rain-snow mix was observed across northeastern OK and Northwestern Arkansas with some accumulations on grassy areas to our west and northwest.  This system is rapidly leaving our area and we'll anticipate improving weather conditions today.  Morning lows in the 20s and lower 30s will move into the upper 50s and lower 60s today with mostly sunny sky.  Winds will back from the south and increase speeds during the afternoon in the 10 to 20 mph range.  

The upper air pattern will remain progressive and allow another strong looking upper wave to move across Kansas Tuesday.  This will shove a cold front across Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon or evening with gusty north winds and cooler air.  Temps behind the system will be in the lower 60s for Wednesday afternoon highs.  We will not experience any showers or storms with the Tuesday evening front as moisture in the lower levels has been pushed to the south and east of the state. 

Return flow begins Thursday into Friday with south winds eventually bringing some low level moisture back into the state ahead of a boundary for Friday evening into Saturday morning.  This may allow a slight chance of thunderstorms for the Friday evening and Saturday morning time period, but the chances appear low at this moment due to the expected low moisture content in the atmosphere.   I'll keep a slight mention in the forecast beginning Friday night and confine Saturday morning pops for southeastern OK. 

In summary the weather will be improving despite a mid-week front. 

The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 53 recorded at 3:49am.

But the afternoon temps were in the 30s and lower 40s. 

The normal daily average high is 63 and the low is 41. 

Our daily records include a high of 88 from 1916 and a low of 20 from 1906.
