State Police: New Mexico Officer Shoots, Wounds McAlester Man During Chase

New Mexico State Police say a McAlester man remains in an Albuquerque hospital after he was shot during a police chase in Santa Rosa on I-40 early Tuesday.

State Police said Kenny Silvers, 20, was shot by a Santa Rosa police officer during the pursuit. They said a security guard called about a suspicious vehicle near the railroad yard in Santa Rosa and when the police officer confronted Silvers and a chase began.

Silver was flown to the University of New Mexico hospital. There was no word on his condition.

State Police said the Santa Rosa officer wasn't injured.

An investigation into the shooting continues.
