When a Wagoner man died last spring, his family's decision to donate his organs lengthened the life of another Oklahoman.
Richard "Dickie" Lowe, 50, was walking in May 2013 when he was hit by a vehicle. His family chose to donate his heart, liver and kidney to others who were simply holding to hope.
Myrtha Delgado had been on dialysis for years, until she received an out-of-the-blue call from doctors when Lowe died.
And on Sunday, eight months after Delgado's kidney transplant, Lowe's mother, Louise Tibbs, and Delgado's family had an emotional introduction at St. Francis Hospital.
Strangers became extended family as they celebrated Myrtha Delgado's future, made possible by Lowe's life.
