Tulsa senior Aimee Creger was named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week after tossing 14.0 shutout innings at the FAU Kick-Off Classic, the league office announced Monday.
A native of Yukon, Okla., Creger compiled a 0.00 ERA and 14 strikeouts, and allowed just four hits and a .093 opponent batting average. She went 1-0 in the circle, and led TU to two victories as it opened the season with a 4-1 record at the Kick-Off Classic.
Creger pitched a two-hit shutout against No. 18 Louisville on Saturday, tallying eight strikeouts in the game. On Friday against Ohio State, she tossed 7.0 shutout innings, allowing two hits, with six strikeouts and six walks. The Hurricane won the game 1-0 in eight innings. Creger made an impact at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 and scoring a run in the 2-1 win over Northern Illinois on Sunday.
The Golden Hurricane returns to action next weekend, Feb. 14-16, at the Aggie Classic in College Station, Texas. TU plays McNeese State and Oregon State on Friday, and the same two opponents Saturday, before facing the host Texas A&M on Sunday. The Hurricane plays at 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, and at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday.
