Owasso Police have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with a shooting at a home in the Elm Creek neighborhood near 86th Street North and Highway 169 late Thursday.

Police said officers were sent to the home at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Inside the home they found a man in his 30s with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers say they found shooting victim Houston Brown in the master bedroom after hearing him  make groaning noises. They found the wounded man lying on his back covered in blood.

Brown kept asking, "Why did you shoot me, dude?," the arrest report states.

Paramedics took the man to an Owasso hospital where doctors found bullets in his right jaw and right collar area, according to the arrest report.

Doctors recovered a third bullet from Brown's thigh. There is no word on his condition.

Owasso Police said Friday morning they've arrested Thomas Cooper.

Homeowner Casey Cole said the man who shot his best friend had been living at the residence off and on, and was planning on moving in.

At some point, the two men got into an argument Thursday night that escalated.

"Finally I guess he had been antagonized one too many times. It didn't set well with my other buddy, and they kind of went at it. And all of the sudden there's gunshots," Cold said.

Cole said after Cooper shot Houston Brown several times, he stood over the victim, ready to pull the trigger again.

And Cole took the gun from him.

"He was definitely coming after him to put another one in him. And I just couldn't let that happen. I had to do something, whether my life was at stake," he said.

"He's one of my best friends and at that point - it's just - at all costs, do whatever it takes," Cole said.

The homeowner says he expects the victim to survive.

Thomas Cooper was booked into the Tulsa County jail on a complaint of shooting with intent to kill.

Jail records show a bond of $75,000 with a court appearance set for February 14, 2014.
