Tulsa Police say they will be focusing on enforcing seatbelt and child seat laws in East Tulsa this month. The Mingo Division, which monitors the area south of Interstate 244 and east of Sheridan Road, will be writing tickets for not using the safety restraints.

No warnings will be issued, according to a news release. Citations for not properly wearing a seat belt are $20, and the fine for not using a proper child restraint is $25.

"It is the goal of the Mingo Valley Division Traffic to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions occurring within the city of Tulsa," the news release states.

Officers also remind drivers not to use cell phones or other electronic devices while driving and heed all warning signs.
