Man Killed In West Virginia Coal Mining Accident

West Virginia State Police say a Maryland man has died in an equipment-related accident at a Tucker County coal mine.

The mine's parent company is Tulsa-based Alliance Resource Partners.

Police say the accident occurred about 9:10 p.m. Thursday at Mettiki Coal's Mountain View Mine in Davis.

A statement from the state Office of Miners' Health Safety and Training says 20-year-old Daniel Lambka of Kitzmiller, Maryland, was crushed in the accident.

The mine safety office is investigating.
