In Rogers County, work began Wednesday on a bridge and pavement replacement project on eastbound Highway 66 at Mossey Creek.
Crews will first build crossover detours. Then by late February, the plan is to move all of the traffic to the westbound lanes and narrow the highway to one lane in each direction.
The $5 million project will take about a year to finish
The eastbound bridge was built in 1956 and is structurally deficient.
Workers replaced the westbound bridge in 2008.
