An 18-year-old from Morris was killed when a truck he was riding in crossed the center line into oncoming traffic in Okmulgee County, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol collision report says.

Clayton L. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

About 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the 2002 Ford Ranger was westbound on Gun Club Road near the Oklahoma 52 intersection when it entered the path of a van, the report says.

Troopers said the driver, Ryan C. Smith, 18, of Henryetta, was partially ejected and pinned under truck for approximately 30 minutes. Smith was admitted to a hospital in critical condition with head, trunk internal, trunk external and arm and leg injuries.

A second passenger in the truck, Alexander P. Workman, 18, of Morris, is said to be stable with trunk internal injuries.

The driver of the van, Stephen R. Carter, 55, of Holdenville, was admitted to a Tulsa hospital with trunk internal injuries. He is said to be stable, according to the report.

The cause of the crash and the condition of the drivers is still under investigation, the report says.
