McAlester Prison Escapee Recaptured

A prison inmate is back in custody after walking away from a work detail early Saturday in Pittsburgh County.

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections says Mark Thompson, 51, went missing between 3:30 – 4 a.m. after being checked out of prison.

Authorities arrested Thompson at about 6 a.m. about a mile from the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center in McAlester.

DOC records show Thompson was serving a four year sentence out of Tulsa County on a first degree burglary conviction.

He was set to be released in May 2017.
