A major construction project got underway Tuesday in South Tulsa.
The road that runs in front of McClure Elementary will close for at least six months, which means some traffic headaches for parents.
The stretch of 61st Street between Yorktown and Rockford is closed in front of the school, as road crews put in new sidewalks, a stoplight and a turn lane.
One parent we spoke to said, while the construction is a mess now, it will all be worth it in the end.
"The time that they decided to do it is a little off the wall, but I think at the end of the day it's going to be worth it when I know my kids can walk home safely," Stephanie Thomas said.
The project is supposed to take about six to 10 months to complete.
