Police say three people were killed in a crash in Muskogee Friday afternoon.

They say, around 2:30 p.m., a 2005 Mercury Sable driven by Michael Billings, 74, rear-ended a 2009 Hyundai Elantra sitting at the stop light in a northbound lane of South 24th Street, near West Okmulgee Avenue.

Police say that collision caused the Hyundai, driven by 77-year-old Loretta Goodwin, to hit the vehicle in front of it, which caused a chain reaction.

The two drivers and a passenger in the Hyundai, 21-year-old Jacob Roberts, were all transported to a nearby hospital, where they were each pronounced dead.

There were no other serious injuries in the accident, police say.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Cpl. Michael Mahan said it didn't appear the weather was a factor in the wreck. Mahan said Billings did have a medical condition, but it's unknown if that played a part.
