Tuesday is election day in Tulsa and the biggest item on the ballot is the race for mayor. Mayor Dewey Bartlett is running against former Mayor Kathy Taylor.
Tulsa voters will also decide on a $918 million capital improvements ‘Improve Our Tulsa' proposal.
Officials say the ‘Improve Our Tulsa' proposal would not raise the city's sales tax, but would increase property tax for one year, in 2019. The proposal is actually two separate propositions on the ballot; a bond proposal and an extension of the sales tax.
And Tulsa voters are being asked to approve an amendment of the city's charter calling for a raise in the salaries of Tulsa City councilors to $24,000 a year.
Polls are open until 7 p.m.
The Tulsa County Election Board's web site lists polling locations across the city.
Once the polls close, News On 6 and NewsOn6.com will provide election results from Tulsa and across eastern Oklahoma.
