A West Tulsa homeowner and guest captured a man they say tried to rob them at gunpoint. Police were called to a home near Admiral and 35th West Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, November 9, according to Tulsa Police Captain Steve Odom.

The homeowner told them he answered a knock at his door and found a man outside. The man, later identified as 19-year-old Edward Vanderlinder, reportedly pulled out a .45 caliber pistol, demanding items from the home.

Police say at some point during the robbery, the victims were able to wrestle the gun away from Vanderlinder and hold him for police.

Tulsa Police Captain Steve Odom said Vanderlinder was clearly under the influence of some kind of drug. The man was taken to a Tulsa hospital where he was placed in an intensive care unit, Odom said.

The captain did not know if it was injuries from the struggle, drug use, some other medical problem or all three that landed Vanderlinder in ICU.
