Police and utility workers were called to southbound Highway 169 early Sunday after a pickup became suspended on guy wires of a transmission line pole. The truck was found just before 1 am. at the off ramp to 21st Street.
Tracks could clearly be seen from the highway to the pole, ending where the truck slammed into the pole and spun onto the cables.
The truck was abandoned, and Tulsa Police made contact with the owner who said she had given her keys to someone she knows.
Tulsa Police Sergeant Chris Moudy told News On 6 that the truck owner said she gave her keys to someone she knows. Police believe those keys were used to start the truck as there were no signs of forced entry or hot wiring. The owner reported the truck as stolen.
A Public Service of Oklahoma crew member said they didn't believe the wreck would result in any outages.
He also said there was a danger of electric arcing if the guy cable became loose enough to contact the live wire.
