The Tulsa Police Department has announced its Mingo Valley Division Traffic Unit will focus on red light violations on South Memorial Drive during the month of November.

Officers will randomly monitor all major intersections in the commercial corridors in the division. A citation issued for a red light violation will be $200.

No warnings will be given.

"Drivers are to remain alert, refrain from using all electronic communication devices and to pay special attention to all traffic signals," a statement from police says. "Violation of a red light is a leading cause of injury collisions in intersections. The Mingo Valley Division has several of the most dangerous intersections in the City of Tulsa, and it is the traffic unit's goal to reduce the frequency and severity of those collisions."
