For the first time since the 1960s, the city of Sand Springs has a new logo.
Monday evening, the Sand Springs city council adopted a new city logo designed by TCC graphics and imaging major James Byrom.
The process began in 2012 when the council decided Sand Springs needed a fresh logo, according to city marketing manager Melissa Carlson.
She says the city sought designs from residents and also worked with a team of University of Tulsa students. In June 2013, Carlson says three options were presented to the city council, but none were selected.
She says after several design revisions, a city logo committee agreed in July to again present the Sand Springs city council with two options, both designed by Byrom.
Carlson says each Sand Springs city department is now in the process of changing over to the new logo.
