An officer fired at a driver who crashed into a patrol car at the end of a chase late Thursday, according to Tulsa Police.

Police Captain Mike Eckert said the incident started when an officer stopped a car near Independence and Harvard for a traffic violation at about 11:30 p.m.

The officer said as he was talking to Henry Harris, 33, Harris drove off.

A second officer chased Harris until Harris stopped at Haskell Place and Gary.

Captain Eckert said as the officer got out of his patrol car, Harris crashed into the side of it.

Eckert said the officer fired multiple shots, hitting the windshield of Harris' car.

Captain Eckert said Harris was not injured. Police booked him into the Tulsa County jail on multiple complaints including assault with a deadly weapon and eluding.

Police say the officer will be placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
