Court Date Set For Man Accused Of Poteau Bar Owner's Murder

A LeFlore County judge set a preliminary hearing for December 4 for a man charged with the 2009 death of a Poteau bar owner.

Raymond Nichols, 60, of Cameron was charged with the death of Joe Neff in August.

His arrest followed a four year investigation by the LeFlore County Sheriff's Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. In July, a dive team searched the pond where Neff's body was found and, using underwater metal detectors located a handgun believed to be the murder weapon.

Nichols has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
