Petition Seeking Rogers County Grand Jury Filed

A petition asking for a grand jury investigation in Rogers County were filed on Wednesday.

Two weeks before the deadline, Sheriff Scott Walton and Bill Jones handed in more than 7,700 signatures that were collected over 30 days.

The petition asks for an investigation of Rogers County District Attorney Janice Steidley and two county commissioners.

Only 4,500 signatures were required.

Walton said that speaks to the concerns of Rogers County residents.

"We made it available, and they came to headquarters or sought out those they knew had petitions, so it was a very easy effort," Walton said.

The election board has a week to certify the signatures, which were sealed by a judge.

A judge will have 30 days to convene the grand jury.
