A 70-year-old Pawhuska man was killed in a crash with a semi early Sunday morning in Osage County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

An OHP collision report says William Jones was pronounced dead just before 8 a.m. a few hundred feet east of Elk Lodge Drive.

The truck driver, Earnest Monday, 47, of Coffeyville, Okla., was not injured.

Jones was southbound from a private drive attempting to make a left turn onto U.S. Highway 60 in a 1998 Dodge Stratus when the westbound semi struck him in the driver's side, the OHP report says.

The investigating trooper cited failure to yield as the cause of the collision.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
