Juvenile In Custody After Leading State Troopers On Chase On Highway 66

A juvenile lead Sapulpa Police and state troopers on a chase Friday night that ended just outside Kellyville on Highway 66, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

OHP said the red van, which was reported stolen, was seen around 9 p.m., driving recklessly, running several other drivers off the road. Troopers tried to stop the van, but the driver refused to stop.

The juvenile suspect then attempted to run over two troopers who were outside of their vehicle. The troopers shot at the van in self defense, OHP said, causing the driver to turn and miss them. The suspect then took off, with troopers following.

The chase ended when troopers forced the van off the road, where Highway 66 meets Maple Drive, just outside Kellyville.

The juvenile suspect, whose name is being withheld, was taken into custody. No one was hurt.
