Police: US Marshal Pursuit In Tulsa Ends With Arrest Of Fugitive

U.S. Marshals and Tulsa Police arrested a man they say was a fugitive from justice Tuesday morning after a short pursuit. It happened at about 10:30 a.m. in north Tulsa.

U.S. Marshals and Tulsa Police arrested a man they say was a fugitive from justice Tuesday morning after a short pursuit. It happened at about 10:30 a.m. in north Tulsa.

Officers first spotted Cornell Leroy Avington Jr. driving in the 2200 block of East Apache when he failed to signal a lane change. They gave chase after he refused to pull over.

According to an arrest report, the 32-year-old man drove through a residential area at speeds exceeding 80 mph.

Avington led them to a home near North 48th Street and North Lewis where the he was taken into custody.

The Tulsa man was wanted on a $450,000 bond for several felonies including trafficking in illegal drugs including meth and possession of a firearm.

He is now being held on an additional $500,000 for endangering others while eluding police.

Authorities were on scene searching through the man's car after his arrest.
