Tuesday was the first day of school for students in Nowata.
Students went back to class more than a week later than expected, because our unusually wet summer delayed construction projects in the district.
Workers renovated the elementary school, added on to the middle school, and built a new gym.
And they're still finishing things. To make up the lost time, the district is adding 10 minutes to each school day and tacking on three days to the end of the school year
