Students at the OSU Medical Center thanked lawmakers for making their mission to serve possible Tuesday.

Speaker T.W. Shannon and several Oklahoma House members toured OSU Medical's emergency room in Tulsa.

A lot of the patients who go through there are from under served communities, so the center relies on funds from the state to fill in the gaps.

Students also held a ceremony to thank the lawmakers, who thanked them back

"You said thank you to us, but frankly, I think I speak on behalf of them when I say thank you to you," Shannon said.

This year, the legislature gave OSU Medical Center $13 million in the May budget.
