Tulsa Mom Pleads Guilty To Child Neglect For Leaving Kids In Hot Apartment

A Tulsa woman accused of leaving her three young children alone in a hot apartment pleaded guilty to child neglect Friday.

Yomara Alvarado was given a five-year deferred sentence. She will not spend anytime in jail unless she gets in trouble again.

According to the July arrest report, the children, ages 5, 4, and 2, had opened water bottles to dump on themselves to try to stay cool.

The manager at the apartment complex said the air conditioning unit in the apartment was broken.
