Monday Morning Update

This past weekend was nothing short of spectacular regarding our weather.  We experienced morning lows in the upper 50s and lower 60s and Saturdays high of 81 and Sundays high of 86.  My family and I had lunch outside on the patio Sunday which would be an invitation for a sauna on most August days.  Now...on to the future.

The upper air pattern will undergo a change this weekend and will resemble more of a summer like pattern.  The northwest flow aloft is going away as the mid level ridge currently to the west and southwest of the state will slowly expand eastward.  This will shut off the storm chances and bring back some 90 degree heat.  While I don't think we're going to move into any serious heat by August standards, we are going to move back closer to normal by the middle to end of his week.  This would mean morning lows in the 70s and afternoon highs in the lower to mid 90s.  We'll probably stay in the lower 90s Monday through Wednesday but will have a chance to slide into the mid 90s Thursday and Friday. 

By Friday into the next weekend, we also see another pattern shift that would take the center of the ridge back to the northwest and allow a chance for some showers and storms to move near the eastern OK vicinity with a minor cool down.  Next weekends first glance forecast will call for morning lows in the lower 70s with daytime highs in the upper 80s along with a chance for scattered shower and storms.
