A Tulsa transient is in jail for stabbing another man early Friday evening, according to a police report.

Chebon Grant Nichols, 41, was arrested for assault and battery with a deadly weapon for stabbing William Phillips in the back, the report says.

Phillips told police Nichols stabbed him at a nearby residence and ran off. A fixed-blade knife was found near the residence in the 1400 block of West Bowen Place about 5 p.m.

After talking with Phillips, who was being treated by EMSA, police received a call in reference to a man with knife wounds who showed up to Oklahoma State University Medical Center.

When police arrived to the hospital, Nichols told them he'd gotten into a fight with Phillips and stabbed him, according to the report.
