Jenks is still recovering after a weekend boil order shut down over two dozen restaurants. The city is now trying to help businesses.
After what the Chamber of Commerce is calling an unprecedented problem with the water supply over the weekend, they are trying to help restaurants get back on track Thursday and bring business back to Jenks.
"Good for Thursday" is a push by city officials to get bosses to give extra long lunch breaks, or people to get take out in Jenks on their way home.
The exact impact of last weekend's event is unknown, but all Jenks restaurants shutting down Friday night and most of Saturday after positive E. coli tests had a very large impact, according to one city official.

It wasn't just business owners and managers who were feeling the crunch--waiters and waitresses, who rely on salary and tips to pay the bills, didn't have a good weekend either.
"It comes to a point where you expect to make a certain amount for shifts. And being closed Saturday, we lost out on a lot of that. So [that's] money for bills and rent everything out of our pocket," said Danielle Sidener, a waitress at Hugo's Restaurant.
The city says about 30 restaurants were directly affected by the boil order in Jenks. And they're hoping that Thursday will bring them one step closer to recovering from the weekend.
