It was a good day for more than a thousand students and their parents as John 3:16 Mission helped them get ready to go back to school.

It was the seventh annual Clothes for Kids back-to-school festival Saturday. The mission helped up to 1,800 kids with school uniform clothes. The group supplied back packs and gave immunizations and dental screenings.

"It's one of what we call our extra grace programs because most people know us for our sheltering and our feeding," said the Rev. Steve Whitaker, president and senior pastor.

"And know very little about the community development and the families we work with at the mission. As you can see this is a pretty good size project for us."

The donations they received helped make this event possible, but they need your help not just this time of the year.

"They're ongoing all year long so I hope they think about the families at risk that we're serving at John 3:16," said the Reverent Steve Whitaker.

You can help by dropping off donation at the Youth Center on Martin Luther King or the Mission on Cheyenne.
