The Cherokee Kid, professional bull rider Ryan Dirteater, was on hand to judge the second annual Mechanical Bull Riding Contest Saturday at Woodland Hills Mall.

Dirteater, a Hulbert native, is scheduled to compete when the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough series returns to Tulsa August 16-17.

Competitors tried their luck against the mechanical version on the lower level of the mall in front of J.C. Penney. The competition ran from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

"While there's nothing like riding the real thing, riding a mechanical bull can be a lot of fun" said Dirteater.

"I'm glad they asked me to come back. I'm looking forward to judging this event again and giving away some tickets to the PBR."
