A Tulsa police officer caught a man who was coming back for seconds in an early morning burglary. Thomas Peppers, 34, was booked into Tulsa County Jail Friday on two counts of first degree burglary.
Officer D.M. House had been called to a home in the 6000 block of South Birmingham Avenue after he says Peppers broke into the garage and stole items from an occupied house - including a set of keys. Shortly before 5 a.m. Peppers returned to the home using one of the keys to enter the garage.
Police say he loaded the family's car with steaks and frozen food items. He then used a stolen car key to start the engine, but Officer House had disabled the vehicle by removing a battery cable.
A K-9 officer found Peppers hiding in the garage, the arrest report states. The victims identified Peppers as the man who broke into their garage both times, House reports.
Peppers is being held on a $40,000 bond.
