A hundred homeless animals were at Guthrie Green Saturday in downtown Tulsa, trying to find new homes. Rescue groups and shelters from all over Oklahoma came out for "Rock and Rescue."
It was a meet-and-greet, where people can play with the animals and hopefully adopt one. Organizers say they typically find new homes for about 50 pets each year, at the event.
We spoke with one group who rescues Yorkies - like 1-year-old Brook.
"We go around and we promote and encourage people to adopt - not to buy," said Maryann Griffith, Yorkie Rescue Group.
"There's too many animals out there that have been thrown away, babies like this one."
Now these are the dog days of summer, so organizers put out plenty of swimming pools, water buckets, and fans to keep the pets cool.
