Some Green Country kids with diabetes got a special lesson from a role model Monday.
Olympian Kris Freeman spent the day with campers at Camp Lo-Be-Gon.
The day camp is for children ages 6 through 12 with type 1 diabetes.
The cross-country skier says he's a living example of achieving your goals while living with the disease.
"Some of the very first messages I got when I was diagnosed were the negative sort, and since then, I've competed in three Olympics. So, I just like to come out and tell the kids they can do what they dream about," Freeman said.
Freeman credits his coaches, family and friends in helping him manage having diabetes, while being a world class athlete.
