Tulsa Man Wheeled Out Of The Hospital And Into Jail

A Tulsa man was wheeled out of the hospital Friday and wheeled into the jail. Freddie Hayes crashed his car into a tree a few days ago when running from police.

Now, he is well enough to be discharged.

We first told you about Hayes a couple of weeks ago. His most recent string of bad luck involving law enforcement happened when a Good Samaritan saw Hayes commit a hit and run and became determined to track him down, refusing to give up.

Dennis was that good Samaritan. He'd been sitting in traffic when he saw a man crash into the back of a car with two women inside it. The women ended up in the hospital.

Dennis says when he realized the man was going to leave the scene, Dennis used his vehicle to block the guy. When the man got out and walked off, Dennis grabbed his phone and took photos of the guy's license plate and of the man himself - including the fact, he was wearing an ankle monitor.

The man came back to his vehicle, jumped in and took off, slamming into Dennis' door in the process.

"I told him, don't hit my door, but he went right into it," Dennis said.

We gave Dennis' pictures to the people who monitor ankle bracelets for the County. They figured out who it was and sent their information to police.

Police then took a photo line up to Dennis, and he picked out Freddie Hayes from the line up.

It didn't take long for a warrant to be issued, then the warrants squad went looking. They tracked him to a hotel and after watching and waiting for hours, say Hayes finally came outside and got into this vehicle. When he saw the cops, they say he took off, eventually slamming through a fence and into a tree.

This time, he was taken to the hospital.

But Hayes has been released and was booked into jail for running from police, assault with a deadly weapon for trying to run over a police officer during the chase, drug possession, carrying a concealed weapon and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

In addition to the local charges Hayes now faces, I'm told the ATF is now looking at Hayes for possible weapons violations as well.
